Where it comes from

Borrowed from Japanese 秋(あき)葉(は)原(ばら) (Akihabara).

proper noun

  1. A neighborhood of Chiyoda, Tokyo prefecture, Japan, known primarily for its shopping and the mass availability of electronics, manga, anime, and other goods. Akihabara means Field of Autumn Leaves, but the fields and leaves have all been replaced by electronics stores, and these days people call it Akiba or Electricity Town.
