ديدحان

  • /daj.da.ħaːn/
  • /diː.da.ħaːn/

Where it comes from

Uncertain. Perhaps connected with a family of roots associated with swelling, roundness and shortness, in reference to the shape of the plant's seed pod. Compare دَاحَ (dāḥa) and دَوَّحَ (dawwaḥa) which both mean “to swell and hang down (of a belly)”, and دَحَن (daḥan) and دَحْدَح (daḥdaḥ) which both mean "short, fat person". Compare also the form دودحان.
