far-feeling
- /ˈfɑːfiːlɪŋ/
Where it comes from
From far + feeling. Calque of Ancient Greek τῆλε (têle, “at a distance, far off, far away, far from”) + πάθος (páthos, “suffering, strong feeling”).
noun
- Telepathy. But really one could not at the time resist the impression that the writers were amusing themselves at the expense of their readers, in gravely informing them that a brain could act telepathically an hour after the man was dead. Surely this was pushing the far-feeling theory a little too far.
