Rhymes with -ɑːsə
Where it comes from
From Tibetan ལྷ་ས (lha sa), from Old Tibetan ར་ས (ra sa).
proper noun Lh'asa
- The capital city of the Tibet Autonomous Region, China. The earliest historical relic of the Tibetans—like that of many, perhaps of most, other races—is a weather-beaten stone, the Do-ring. It stands in the center of Lhasa, across the courtyard in front of the western doors of the Cathedral or Jokang, beneath the famous willow-tree.
