notula

Where it comes from

Borrowed from Latin notula.

noun notulae

  1. A small circular pit on an internal fossil mold of a trilobite marking the impression of an apodeme. Generally a pair of notulae is associated with each muscle scar. Notulae also occur in the cephalon, in some species being present in the floor of the oblique lateral scars of the posterior lobe (Shergold, 1975).
