rever

noun revers

  1. The upper part of some upper garments (such as a shirt or jacket) that folds back at or near the neck to give the appearance of a collar or lapel. Unlike a collar, the rever is always formed from the same piece of fabric as the rest of the garment's bodice. It is a good plan to baste around close to the edge, until the rever is either pressed or stitched, especially if the latter is to be the trimming.
