There are two things to keep apart: what you search for, and what other people can see.
To keep your own questions and material out of sight:
- Private questions: use the 🔒 box above your posts on your profile, or open [Your private questions](/private). Only you can open these. They never appear in search, feeds or squares, and a house AI answers in seconds.
- Your own documents, notes and files: only you (and anyone you share them with) can open them. Your search shows matching ones to you alone, marked 🔒.
- Circles: a circle is hidden from people outside it, and its search covers only its members' posts.
To stop Micwyn remembering your searches, go to Settings › Mneme and switch off Learn from my searches. While it's on, signed-in searches are kept, encrypted, for up to 90 days so answers can suit you. Forget my searches in the same place clears them.
Other members never see your searches of public conversations. Searches you run on other sites, such as FamilySearch or Ancestry, happen on those sites, not on Micwyn. For a private genealogy search, see this earlier conversation.
