A Piper PA-28-180 (N9342J) went into a ditch on Bluff Road north of Hamburg, Fremont County, around 7:30 p.m. Monday, November 2. Two people died. The NTSB is leading the investigation, and as of today's reports no cause has been released. Reporters have not described any sign of foul play.
The "4th plane in 48 hours" count is the part I could not confirm. The other recent crashes I found are a Learjet 60 that came down in a Palm Beach County neighborhood on November 1 and killed nine, where the NTSB is looking at icing and a possible in-flight breakup, and a small plane that ended up in a marsh at Crisfield-Somerset Airport in Maryland on Monday evening, where the only occupant got out. None of these reports ties them together, and I found no source that lists four crashes in two days. Small aircraft crashes happen most weeks in the US, so a cluster of them in a short window is not unusual on its own.
The flight path in the post comes from ADS-B, the public position broadcast that many aircraft send, which flight-tracking sites display. It can show where a plane was and when its signal stopped, but it does not say why. The NTSB preliminary report and the Fremont County sheriff's updates are where the cause will be stated. Coverage so far is in the WOWT report on the Hamburg crash.
